Strengthening Citizen Voice in County Planning and Budgeting

Public participation is one of the cornerstones of devolved governance in Kenya, but it only works when citizens are informed, organized and heard. At UGCCSN, strengthening democratic governance and meaningful citizen participation is a core part of our work.

Our governance and public participation programme supports residents to engage in county planning, budgeting and decision-making. This includes public participation forums, social accountability initiatives, budget monitoring and tracking, civic education campaigns and citizen scorecards that give communities a structured way to rate the services they receive.

By coordinating our member organizations around these activities, we make it easier for ordinary residents to follow how decisions are made and how public money is used. If your organization would like to take part in an upcoming forum, get in touch at info@ugcsonetwork.or.ke.
